Prices for sunflower in Ukraine have sharply declined due to reduced demand from processors, who expect further price drops and demand for vegetable oils, given the attacks on civilian vessels and tankers in the Black Sea, which have led to rising freight rates for transportation. Demand prices for sunflower oil in Ukraine (with delivery to ports in December) fell by $10/t to $1220/t over the week amid rising supply and declining demand, as well as falling prices for Russian sunflower oil by $10-15/t to $1190–1195/t FOB (with delivery in December). Drone attacks on civilian vessels transporting sunflower oil from Russia and Ukraine have shocked the market, as since the beginning of the war, civilian vessels had almost not been subjected to targeted strikes.
