The wholesale price of eggplant in Spain increased 42.03% YoY. Spanish eggplants sold at USD 2.25 per kg in W4 Dec 2021, which was USD 1.59 per kg in the previous year. Production of Spanish eggplant decreased by -6.1% YoY due to bad weather in 2021. [At the same time, demand from EU countries for Spanish eggplant increased due to the trend in consumption of vegetarian diets.] As a result, the price of eggplants in Spain surged in December 2021.
