The Chinese onion wholesale price index rose to 77.51 in W2 November 2021, although it was lower than its base wholesale price index. Meanwhile, the wholesale price index of onions in Mexico and the US also rose to 136.09 and 126.94 during the same period. The supply shortage of US onions and higher demand for domestic consumption this year will likely make the wholesale price index rise further. Meanwhile, an increase in production in Mexico has the potential to increase exports, which may also increase the wholesale price index.
