Australian Pistachio Prices Drop on Harvest Pressure

Pistachio prices in Australia decreased by 4% MoM to USD 18.91/kg in mid-March, due to harvest pressure. Although yields in 2023 may drop, due to it being an off-year in the biannual production cycle of pistachios, an increase in bearing trees could partly offset the decrease. As the harvest comes in, prices are under pressure and are expected to remain closer to export parity over the next 2-3 months, after which it could move closer to the cost of imported pistachios once more.
