The spread between large and smaller-sized walnuts in Italy has widened as high-quality walnuts become scarce. In the second week of July, prices for large 36-38 mm in-shell walnuts increased by 15% to USD 5.82/kg, while 34-36 mm sizes rose by 6% to USD 5.10/kg. In contrast, small-sized walnuts saw a 15% price drop to USD 4.17/kg. The spread is expected to remain wide until the Northern Hemisphere harvest, but further significant increases may not occur.
