Price of 6-7 kg and 8-16 kg cuts of lamb in Spain, one of the main exporters of the product in the world and in Europe have been rising to higher levels. The YoY price increase of the commodity for 8-16 kg was 2.5% higher than that for 6-7 kg, at 17.56% as opposed to 15.1%. The price of 6-7 kg lamb are more volatile than the 8-16 kg lamb. Farmgate prices of the lamb meat are unusually high not only in Spain but also in the whole of Europe due to a shortage in global supply.
