Guatemalan banana exports to the US decline in Q1 2021

World banana imports from the US are quite stagnant every year. However, the decline did occur right in the first quarter of 2021 from the largest US banana supplier, Guatemala. At the same time, other exporters including Costa Rica and Ecuador actually increased their total volume to the US. However, despite the rapid increase in Costa Rica which amounted to 641.285 thousand pounds around April 2021, still has not been able to replace the share from Guatemala that stood twice higher at 1.327.527 thousand pounds around the same period. The price which is also constant in the range of 0.21-0.22 USD does not seem to affect the market trade much.
