The import price of hazelnuts to the US rose to 3.20 USD/pound in July 2021. At the same time, import volume fell to 597 thousand pounds after previously standing at 1,189 thousand pounds in June 2021. The US relies on 96.50% of hazelnut imports from Turkey which makes the country has a strong position in the US hazelnut market. The decline in import volume this year did not only occur in imports from Turkey but also in other countries such as Spain, Italy, and Georgia. The decline in hazelnut imports in the last 3 years may be due to changes in US demand for hazelnut consumption.
