Thai Jasmine rice prices decreased through 2021 and the first three weeks of 2022. At the end of W3 2022, wholesale Jasmine rice prices stood at USD0.63/kg, down 49.79% YoY. Sluggish export demand for the commodity at the beginning of 2021 created a rice glut in the domestic market, exerting pressure on prices. At the end of 2021, the downtrend was enhanced by the expectations of the bumper rice crop in the 2021-22 season.
