The Export of Seafood and Animal Products From Denizli, Turkey Increased by 40% YoY in 2022

In 2022, Denizli's total exports reached USD 4.7B. The seafood and animal products sector stood out the most with a 40% YoY increase from USD 135M in 2021 to USD 190M in 2022. The top 5 countries with the highest export volume were Iraq with 25%, the Netherlands with 21%, Germany with 5%, the UAE with 5%, and Algeria with 4%. As for sub-product groups, the highest export value, USD 85M, was achieved in animal products, followed by the seafood group with USD 60M, the dairy products group with USD 25M, and the delicatessen products group with USD 20M. Turkish-origin products, especially, attract great interest on the shelves of European markets due to their increase in consumption of animal protein. Over 70% of sea bass and sea bream used in European restaurants are from Turkey, with a portion of it being exported from Denizli.
