World: As commodity prices fall, producers call alert for milk prices

More than a year after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, dairy commodity prices have started to rebound from 2022 highs. But as the market adjusts, processors are finding themselves under increasing pressure to cut milk prices in the farm. Dairy farmers around the world continue to be affected by high food prices, which rose significantly during the early stages of the war in Ukraine. According to commodity prices and market intelligence data firm Mintec, global feed ingredient prices declined during the second half of 2022, but remain higher than in January 2022. Corn and wheat availability is also expected to be tight in 2023, with Russia and Ukraine accounting for 70% of global supply and dry weather in the US expected to result in lower crop yields.
