Japan is known for being a floating factory. This is because the Island has, in the robustness of the industry, its great lever of development. It was in the aggregation of value through the import of raw materials and the export of manufactured goods that Japan emerged from a situation of total destruction in the post-war period, to one of the most important world powers. With few mechanized areas available for agriculture and livestock, Japan is a net food importer.
