In the first two months of 2021, third country exports of the EU-27 of dairy products varied compared to the previous year. The two most important export products in terms of volume, cheese and skimmed milk powder, fell slightly short of the previous year's level. For cheese, the statistics for the first two months showed a slight decrease of two percent. The strong increase in February was able to almost compensate for the significant decrease in January. Less cheese to the UK Japan, Switzerland and China demanded the highest additional quantities, but more goods also flowed to the other target countries. The only major declines were in business with the USA and South Korea. The United Kingdom imported a good quarter less cheese in the period under review than in the previous year. This is likely to have had an additional dampening effect on deliveries to third countries by the Community, but is not yet shown in the EU statistics.
