US: Weekly grain inspections decline

Inspections of corn and wheat for overseas delivery declined week-on-week, while bean assessments improved, according to US Department of Agriculture (USDA) data. Corn inspections for the week to May 25 fell to 1.31 million tonnes from 1.33 million tonnes, the agency said in a report delayed 24 hours due to Memorial Day. This is also down from the 1.41 million tonnes examined in the same week last year. Wheat valuations last week fell to 382,031 metric tons from 440,094 tons the week before, but up from the 344,319 tons inspected at the same point in 2022, the Agriculture Department said. Soybean inspections, meanwhile, rose to 239,736 metric tons from 166,590 tons the week before, the agency said. That's still down from the 404,350 tonnes swt assessed in the same week a year ago. Since the beginning of the marketing year on September 1, the USDA has inspected 28.7 million metric tons of corn for overseas delivery.
