Mexico achieves new record in avocado production

Mexico's avocado production reached 2.7 million tons, registering a growth of 4.3% compared to 2022, reaching a new record, and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) predicts that it will increase 5% in 2024. It is the most recent result of a golden decade for Mexican avocado production, which since 2013 (1,468,000 tons) has registered an accumulated growth of 80.7%, maintaining Mexico as the world's leading producer and exporter of this fruit. This sector in Mexico has grown steadily over the last five years due to strong demand from international markets and growing domestic consumption. At the same time, Mexico's avocado exports totaled 1.4 million tons in 2023, which is 17% more compared to the previous year. Going forward, the USDA projects exports to continue growing in 2024. Although export volumes increased in 2023, the value of exports decreased.
