Known as one of the Superfoods, it comes from the family of brassica oleracea and is characterized by fleshy green leaves. It contains high values in vitamins such as A, B, C, and K, as well as a high content of essential minerals such as calcium, potassium, and magnesium.
IQF Chopped Kale is the product prepared by an appropriate freezing process from fresh, clean, and sound succulent leaves and stems of fresh plant Brassica oleracea. The process includes sorting, trimming, blanching, properly draining, and freezing and it shall ensure the stability of color and flavor and the product temperature shall not be warmer than –18 celsius after thermal stabilization. The product shall be free of foreign materials, relatively free of blemishes, have a good uniform bright color, be fresh, clean, free of oxidization, and free of toxic or pesticide chemical residues.
The product is inspected, washed, machine cut, steam cooked, and frozen, 100% Kale. It has a distinct, natural, uniform, and dark green color. Paler underparts and slight purple tints characteristically to certain varieties are permitted. The stems/leaves shall be free of objectionable oxidization. Chopped shall possess a sweet and fresh flavor and be free of any off odors or flavors.
