Product Description

Also known as “the grape of the century,” “Mango grapes,” or “Chanel of grapes,” Shine Muscat grapes have gained enormous popularity across Asia since its introduction a few years ago.

Shine Muscat is a relatively new grape variety, discovered through the hybridization of multiple green and red grapes. The product has become high in demand among sweet tooths, as it carries a juicy and crunchy texture at the surface followed by flavors of fully ripened mango and grapefruit juice. The sweet scent remarkably resembles that of a well-ripened muscat or mango. It is also one of the most convenient grapes to eat, as it is seedless and has a thin layer of skin that does not have to be peeled.

Shape, Taste and Storage

Shine Muscat is distinctively larger in berry size and sweeter than the majority of table grapes, with at least a 17 Brix level. Due to its firm flesh berries, the grape cluster remains an ideal and consistent cylindrical figure, even during transportation. It is also popular among importers and fruit distributors as it boasts a long storage life of 4-6 months in cooling conditions.

Flavors & Physical Appearances

Why Shine Muscat Is a Premium Fruit

Specialized Production and Harvest Process

Shine Muscats need extra care and attention, as they require a more specialized environment to grow. The extra labor and production costs of Shine Muscats are compensated by the excellent taste and unwavering quality of the fruit.

- To produce high quality Shine Muscat, vines must be 2.5m-3m apart, as their branches reach great horizontal lengths rather than vertical growth.
- Shine Muscat requires extra soil specializations, including plenty of earth minerals such as calcium, magnesium & consistent moisture.
- Shine Muscat requires at least 3 times more labor for fruit thinning than other Korean major grape varieties such as Campbell Early and Kyoho to maximize sweetness per bunch.
- Plantations strictly regulate harvest seasons and production rates to produce best results.

Safer Transportation

- Shine Muscat is also defined by its firm yet elastic texture. The strong stem keeps the berries from falling off during transportation.

- On the other hand, other table grapes including Thomson have thinner stems that show little resistance when they are picked from the bunch stem. It is highly likely that these berries become detached from the stem during transportation, damaging marketability of the product.

Storage

- Shine Muscat has a very long shelf life of 4 to 6 months after harvest in the low temperature storage, so it can be exported until April at latest. The bunchstem of Shine Muscat grape is thicker than other table grapes which enables a longer shelf life and prevents berries from falling apart.

- The Rural Development Administration of South Korea has recently joined forces with Korean Shine Muscat grape producers to develop new farming technology that will extend the shelf life of Shine Muscat to 1 year. The RDA is also researching more efficient transportation methods that will soon enable Shine Muscat farmers to export using cargo containers.

Our Sourcing Regions

South Korea Fresh Shine Muscat - shinemuscat_region1.png
- Tridge only sources from premium Shine Muscat produce regions.
- These produce regions are known to have special natural environments suitable for cultivating Shine Muscat vines.
- Sangju, for example, is characterized by main production areas with 300m AMSL. These highlands receive exceptionally long hours of sunlight (2,570 hrs/yr) which is crucial to produce sweet fruits and have a high daily temperature difference (more than 10 degrees), which is necessary to produce high-quality grapes.
- The ideal growing temperature for Shine Muscat is between 18~25 degrees. Our sourcing regions show an average of 21 degrees between July and September, which is ideal for harvest.
- These mountainous regions have maintained one of the cleanest natural spring water and air quality in Korea.
- Our sourcing regions mainly grow Shine Muscat on clay soil, which results in relatively slower growth. This allows the grape to mature more slowly, producing a significantly sweeter taste and scent.
- Although the fruit is relatively new to South Korea, our farmers have experienced grape producers with over thirty years of experience. Their farms have already accumulated the highest production technology and extensive database. This enabled the Korean Shine Muscat market to grow in no time.

Our Partner Farmers

Our partners are Shine Muscat exporters and producers that are dedicated to introducing Korean Shine Muscat to the Global Market. They devote to producing the highest quality Shine Muscats and introducing their grapes to the global markets.
