W6 Grape Update: Peruvian and Egyptian Grape Exports Reach Record Highs in 2023

In W6 in the grape landscape, Peru experienced a substantial surge in fresh grape exports in 2023, reaching 664.37 thousand mt valued at USD 1,795 million, marking a 16% YoY volume increase and a 28% YoY value increase compared to 2022. The average price also rose by 10% YoY to USD 2.70/kg. Peru expanded its exports to over 55 countries, notably making gains in Asian markets like Taiwan and Japan. The US remained the top destination, with increased acquisitions and higher average prices. Similarly, Egypt achieved a record for table grape exports to Saudi Arabia in 2023, shipping 33 thousand mt from Jan-23 to Oct-23, a 16% YoY increase from 2022. Despite competition, Egypt has steadily increased its market share in Saudi Arabia, reaching 45% YoY from Jan-23 to Oct-23, though this is expected to decrease by year-end as the supply season concludes.
