On-the-Ground Updates
There's a shortage of Atlantic Salmon in the Chile market, causing difficulties for suppliers in meeting demand. Potential reasons include algal blooms, increased demand from the United States (US), or yearly harvesting fluctuations. Some reprocessing companies struggled to fulfill contracts due to the shortage, receiving only 3 metric tons (mt) per week instead of the needed 10 mt. Direct suppliers may provide more volume with larger fish by June to July, but uncertainty persists.
