AFEX facilitates the development of infrastructure and markets and the deployment of capital for Africa’s commodities market. AFEX’s goals of supporting Africa’s food security vision are partly achieved by unlocking finance for the production, trade, processing and export of commodities in Africa. The firm also addresses the challenges faced by smallholder farmers and other value chain players, by leveraging Nigeria's largest supply chain infrastructure. To date, AFEX operates over 100 warehouses in Nigeria’s key grain producing areas, while reaching over 330,000 farmers and trading over 500,000 MT of commodities.

Operating through 3 business units, AFEX provides solutions in trading, financing and market system development. A range of clients and members trade physical commodities and commodity contracts through AFEX’s platform.
