Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Label is deep garnet-purple in color and features wonderfully pure, vibrant notes of fresh, ripe blackberries, red and black currants and boysenberries plus suggestions of violets, dark chocolate, unsmoked cigars and pencil shavings. The medium to full-bodied palate coats the mouth with lively black and red fruits, supported with ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and earthy. 279 cases were made.

The 2018 Right Bank Blend is a blend of 47% Cabernet Franc, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot and l% Petit Verdot, aged for 20 months in French oak, 75% new. Deep garnet- purple in color, it rolls effortlessly, seductively out of the glass with gorgeous scents of lavender, lilacs and baked black cherries, leading to a core of kirsch, warm cassis and chocolate box plus a waft of bouquet garni. The full-bodied palate delivers bright, crunchy fruit, supported by fine-grained tannins and great tension, finishing long, lively and mineral laced. 459 cases were made.

Just about pure perfection, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard will stand up to anything coming out of this Grand Cru vineyard outside of St. Helena. Incredible crème de cassis, smoked earth, graphite, and tobacco define the bouquet, and it’s full-bodied, with a layered, multidimensional mouthfeel, perfect balance, and a finish that just won’t quit. Based on 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot aged 19 months in French oak, it’s a sensational 2018 readers should snatch up.

From a site tucked into the most westerly section of the valley on the western edge of Oakville, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Vine Hill Ranch Vineyard is more backward and reserved, but it will probably merit a triple-digit score at maturity. Notes of blackcurrants, coffee beans, caramelized blueberries, and dark chocolate give way to a full-bodied, powerful 2018 that has lots of tannins but the mid-palate, concentration, and balance to handle them. Hide bottles for a least 5-7 years.
