Bodhi's Bakeshop specializes in bread made from organically grown grains and has been baking since 1981. Bodhi means “teacher and provider of good things” or “enlightenment” in Sanskrit. Its first bread was baked by two members of Fremantle’s ‘Orange People’, championing the cause of healthy living and fresh wholegrain bread which was grown from its initial purpose of providing bread for friends.
It has developed a range of more than 40 gourmet and dietary loaves, including sourdough, rye, wupper, and barley bread, organic spelt flours, and spelt bread, etc. It produces gluten-free cookies and the products are all low in fat, salt, and sugar and free of artificial additives. It supplies Coles and Woolworths and also sends a lot of cookies to outlets in the eastern states, while also exporting the bread to Singapore. Bodhi's Bakeshop is a member of the Organic Growers Association.
