Brutocao Family Vineyards is the story of the combination of the expertise and passion of the two families to build one of the most notable wineries in Mendocino County. Bringing along with them their love for wine, the Brutaco family emigrated from Italy in 1910. While both were studying at the University of California, Berkeley, Len Brutocao and Martha Bliss met. Martha's father had been farming in Mendocino since 1943.
After their marriage, Len and Martha's family joined forces and continued to sell their grapes for many years to established wineries in Sonoma and Napa.
In 1980, they started to make their own wine. Their land is over 400 acres of vineyards in Hopland and 12.5 acres of Pinot Noir in Anderson Valley, years after their plantings have reached nearly 400 acres.
