In a location where there hadn't been any vineyards since the late 1800s, IG Winery was a little new company when it first opened its doors in 2012. Due to their rarity, wineries in Southern Utah lacked zoning restrictions, the financial sector was unsure how to value them, and local government officials were unsure of the proper licensing procedures. We had to work hard to assemble a group of financiers and banks, and we even assisted the city in creating new zoning regulations that would permit vineyards in the region. The I/G Winery opened its initial location in a small converted cottage behind the Iron Gate Bed & Breakfast after we surmounted each obstacle one at a time.
