Mpola Halisi is the brand name for our roasted coffee. It’s our main product which is currently being sold locally which is both Ground and Beans. Green beans are sold in bulk for export.
“Mpola Halisi” Mpola means black coffee without sugar in the Tengo language and Halisi is a Swahili word meaning authentic, real, or true. “Mpola Halisi” Tanzania’s best Arabica Coffee which is grown in the Matengo Highlands along mountain ranges of great rift valleys on Lake Nyasa walls in a valley called Hagati in Mbinga District Ruvuma region, at an altitude of 1240 to 2100 meters. The red ripe cherries are picked, Pulped fully, and washed to become cream-colored. Then it is followed by getting rid of its second layer (The husk) and is ground to its size and quality. The color of the bean is green. The beans are then roasted and ground-to-ground coffee.
To enable farmers to significantly improve their farm management, whilst enhancing crop quality through improved practices, management, and control, we have established a sustainable farmer-owned business model to benefit smallholder producers through training them in good coffee production practices [quality farm management practices such as advanced soil management techniques, and identifying disease resistant trees among others]. The company also provides general life skills training and entrepreneurship training to the farmers to that they can be able to expand and diversify investments through the revenue they get from coffee farming.
