Karl Lange constructed a sawmill and cartwright's workshop on Rambin's main street between 1947 and 1948. The sawmill was transformed into a HO restaurant with a ballroom in 1962 with the assistance of the LPG Giesendorf. It is now used for meetings, cultural events, and school meals. It was known as "Rügenland" back then. Around the year 1996, the restaurant was shut down.

After six years of being vacant, Marco von Kessel happened upon this treasure in 2002. In the years that followed, he was driven to renovate, renovate, and preserve everything possible by his enthusiasm for historical structures and desire to create something beautiful.

The "ALTE POMMERNKATE" farmers' market in Rügen opened on April 1, 2003, in the former festival hall. People who worked here, in the beginning, are still employed here today, so they can recall how things started. A cafe opened in 2004 and should no longer be missing from the expanded western gable end, which was added for room service and tourist information.

The farmers' market in the attic, which is reached via a spacious wooden staircase, was added in 2008 as a result of the market's strong popularity, making the Alte Pommernkate a popular destination for tourists and island residents alike.
