Split sea territories complicate Anchovy production and exportation

Although there are very high-quality anchovies in Malaysian waters, which are the blue-eyed anchovy variety, these anchovies are often exported only to Asian countries rather than worldwide due to the still low production. The country's extensive waters, but shared with neighbouring countries, make it quite difficult to find the main anchovy growing area. For this reason, it will be some time before the anchovy becomes one of the country's main export aquacultures.
