Bulgaria blocks the import of 32 MT chicken meat contaminated with salmonella. Polish chicken meat deliveries had been previously stopped at Bulgarian customs and found to contain salmonella at the end of 2019 and after this detection by customs health authorities, the inspections on Polish chicken imports have been intensified. The total import volumes of chicken meat contaminated with salmonella are reported to be as high as 50 MT since the beginning of 2020.
