Pig livestock is the main farming animal that recorded a price surge by 42% during the Q1 2020 compared to the same period last year.
The main reason behind the price hike is the drastically reduced pig headcounts in the country due to the African Swine Fever.
Bulgarian pig farmers were officially obliged to exterminate big numbers of their livestock in 2019 which led to a shortage in the market and impacted the prices.
