The heavy rainfall in the Gorontalo regency since early this week has now flooded around 20 Ha of plantation lands in the region. The plantation most affected by the flood is the corn plantation in the southern region of this province. This is seen as quite a big hit to the local corn industry in this region, especially during the early stage of their production phase. This current condition would surely force the farmers to start over the seeding process as the flood has destroyed most of their crops. The inclement weather is also expected to affect the local fishery industry to produce strategic commodities such as wild-caught milkfish and grouper, as it is predicted that the weather will last until at least the end of the third week of June.
