The price of garlic in Morocco has increased almost by 10 DH per kilo. Indeed, at the Casablanca Central Market, prices are up to 45 MAD.
Garlic prices are rising due to lower exports from China. Chinese garlic production meets at least 80% of world demand, making the country the largest producer in the world. However, since the appearance of the coronavirus, these volumes have been decreasing.

In the United States, where 70% of garlic is imported from China, the price of a garlic braid increased to 29% in February 2020 compared to the same period a year ago.
