More and more agricultural traders and producers in Vietnam are adapting online software to conduct their business due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, Vietnamese companies have used virtual management systems which not only helps managers control and allocate workload to their staff without physical contact but also cuts down on some fixed costs such as utility, rent, and more. This online management software is not a new technology, but it is quite new for rice and cassava farmers as they have been operating traditionally for a very long time. For example, a rice manufacturer and exporter announced that actually experienced higher margins during the pandemic because their use of online management software cut down their production costs. Even when the pandemic is over, the rice and cassava farmers will likely continue using these Softwares to further drive down their costs.
