Bulgaria underperforms in vegetable production output in 2019

Bulgaria produces 20% fewer vegetables in 2019 barely reaching up to 752 KMT compared to the 906 KMT in 2018.
Potatoes and onions are the two main responsible products with a decrease of almost 25%. Potato production output last year was 197 KMT compared to 260 KMT in 2018, whereas the onion output could contribute only with 31 KMT compared to the 42 KMT in 2018.
Greenhouse farmed vegetables have demonstrated even a bigger decrease by 30% from 130 KMT in 2018 to 101 KMT 2019.
On the other hand, the country produced 145 KMT of tomatoes, 97 KMT of watermelons, 68 KMT of cucumbers, and 64 KMT of peppers.
Only fresh peppers have shown an increase of 23% among the vegetable category.
