In the Philippines, the peanut is considered one of the major field legumes grown by local farmers. However, its production has been low and erratic with national average yield ranging only from 800 to1,000 kilograms per hectare. Cagayan Valley produces almost half of the county’s total peanut supply. The Philippines also import peanuts from Indonesia and Burma to cater to local demand since local production is not high.
