Since the Myanmar economy has opened the market to the world in 2013, it also allows the import of palm oil, sunflower oil and other edible oils to the local market. Those imported oils are cheaper than the local peanut oil and other vegetable oils. This affected around 90 percent of the local oil mills and they stopped their operations.
