The wholesale prices for cereals in Russia are rising due to high local demand

Last week the wholesale prices for buckwheat and rice groats in Russia amid increased demand went up sharply.
So, buckwheat went up to 50.1K Rubles/MT in a week period. In February 2020, the average price of buckwheat was 39.7K Rubles/MT, in March 2019 - 22.4K Rubles/MT.
The cost of rice rose to 36.65K Rubles/MT. In February 2020, the average price of rice was at the level of 31.4K Rubles/MT, in March 2019 - 31.4K Rubles/MT.
The increase in prices for millet was a bit lower and amounted to 23.5K Rubles/MT. In February, a ton of millet cost 22.9K Rubles/MT, in March 2019 - 53.4K Rubles/MT.
Producers believe that there will be no further substantial increase in wholesale prices for cereals since market saturation remains high and fully meets the needs of the population.
