In the first half of 2020, exports of fruits and vegetables decreased by 11.4% over the same period in 2019, but there are some silver linings. Although the export of fruits and vegetables to the Chinese market dropped sharply in the first 5 months of 2020 (down 30.3% over the same period in 2019), exports to other markets recorded high growth rates: Thailand increased by 233.4%, South Korea increased by 21.9%; the United States increased by 6.2%; Japan increased by 15.7%. While the overall exports decreased, Vietnam is less dependant on just one main market for its exports.
