There are two main production regions for seafood products in Myanmar: the Tanintharyi region and the Rakhine region. 80% of the production from the Tanintharyi region is mainly exported to Thailand as it has three trading borders with Thailand and is very close to Bangkok. The majority of seafood products from the Rakhine region are delivered to the Yangon Region where all seafood processing plants and cold storages are located. These products are processed, cleaned, packed and exported to foreign markets such as China, USA, and Europe.
