As Turkish growers are not allowed to export lemons due to the export ban placed because of the Covid19 outbreak, Ukraine, one of the biggest customers for Turkish lemons may soon experience supply shortages in the market place.
The export ban already showed its effect by doubling up the lemon prices to 3.3 USD per kg since the start of March. The prices are expected to continue to increase in the near future whilst growers from Argentina will become the main lemon suppliers in the Ukraine market. However, the order deliveries from Argentina will take much longer than it did from Turkey.
