The Philippines’ current involvement in the cocoa-chocolate global value chain is limited as it primarily acts as an importer of immediate and final products for domestic consumption. One of the reasons as to why there is low participation is due to underdeveloped cocoa bean producing industry. However, suppliers are trying to find ways to be able to still compete in the global market and export cocoa beans to be able to help local farmers and businesses. It is expected that the export of such products would increase this coming Christmas season, from October up until December.
