Updates on the Foot and Mouth Disease in South Africa show that significant progress has been made in containing it and progressively dealing with it. However, the export trade of affected livestock, such as cattle, continues to be hampered. Stakeholders in the industry anticipate that the disease will soon be eradicated from the affected regions, as the ban on the gathering of cloven-hoofed animals was recently lifted in February 2020.
