The government of Indonesia through its Ministry of Agriculture is currently facilitating the local smallholder farmers in Magelang regency in Central Java province to produce sapodilla fruits using the government-owned plantation lands. There are several plantations lands available with a total area of 45 hectares. This effort is initiated to revitalize the production of sapodilla fruits nationally that has been struggling to produce at the desired output due to land limitations. Aside from the local variety, foreign varieties of sapodilla fruit called Havana and Loreta, which can usually be found in Mexico, will also be produced. The government targeted that around 3 MT of sapodilla can be produced for every hectare of land.
