Producers and suppliers of a variety of dried beans in Canada and the US have seen an increase in demand for their products both domestically and internationally. As retail customers stock-up amid Coronavirus concerns, canned beans are becoming a popular item given their long shelf lives. Bean supply was slightly down in general due to poor fall 2019 harvest weather in Canada and the US but a large price increase hasn't been seen at the farmer level yet. More needs to be known about the duration of Coronavirus safety measures before long term price trends can be evaluated.
