Lemongrass was once suggested for use as a substitute for plastic straw in Malaysia. This makes farmers believe that they can plant more lemongrass since the demand will be high if lemongrass straw is used in Malaysia. But after studying the use of lemongrass straw is not suitable for the long term since it can not be used more than 3 times, farmers losing interest in it.
