More and more illegal smuggling activities of sheep livestock have been recorded between Iran and Iraq. The smuggling is taking place due to the fact that the farmgate price of sheep livestock in Iran is approximately $1.82 per kg while the price is more than double with $4.1 per kg in Iraq. Officials make a remark that if smuggling continues with a growing trend, Iran might very soon face red meat shortages and price surges.
