The garlic imports far exceeded the requirements of national consumption and agriculture professionals are afraid not to be able to promote it and demanding the imports to stop and to reduce their prices in the local market. Over 20000 tons of garlic are threatened to be thrown and destroyed. The President of the Regional Union of Peasants asked the Higher authorities to save the garlic agriculture and prevent over importing this product stressing that they are able to cover the national consumption and even start exporting Garlic as well.
