In 2019 Zambia entered a formal trade agreement with the Democratic Republic of Congo on various commodities including Maize and several leguminous seed varieties. Under the MoU, Zambia is expected to export 600,000 MT of Maize to DRC Congo the agreement is following Zambia’s bad Maize season in 2018/2019 and is expected to boost trade by taking advantage of their vast border.
