COVID 19 has caused global prices of cashews to fall as there is an increased supply coming from Africa. The shut down of processing factories in India and Vietnam coupled with restricted shipping logistics to large importers like China and the US is the primary cause of the surplus. Suppliers are hoping for a rebound in processing and consumption when the global situation has stabilized.
