The seafood industrial processing units in Morocco are suffering the full brunt of the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their activities, raising growing concern among professionals and their Federation. The National Federation of Industries Processing and Enhancing Fisheries Products in Morocco (FENIP) said in a press release that operators in the sector are now recording refusals of goods exported to several countries, in particular, the main customers to the export especially in the European Union (EU).
In addition, there are large-scale disruptions in the supply chains such as the inshore fishing boats have been stopped for 2 weeks, adds FENIP.
