Tomato production in Nigeria struggles because of pest and heat

Tuta Absoluta one of the most devastating pest affecting tomato is raving tomato farms in Kano state.
The pest returned in April and has destroyed several commercial farms. There is also a widespread stunting of tomatoes due to excessive heat recorded in the past months in Nigeria.
Tomatoes hardly survives in temperature above 38 degrees Celsius.
